JB trip with the Idris Family Day 1
10 December 2017
So we enjoyed our short JB trip in October so much that we decided to do it again in December. This time, our extended family decided that they wanted to join in too so after much discussion and swaying back and forth, we finally went in 2 separate vans. Since my sis in law is not tagging along this time, I had to be the main person in charge of booking the hotel rooms and my gosh it was stressful booking hotel rooms for so many people on different dates.
Little niece is not around this time but guess who is this handsome young man?
Little nephew Md Aqif!
Our van picked us up from Ubi and then headed to Jurong to pick up Cik Lah and family. Travelling to Malaysia in December or any school / public holidays is good but one has to tolerate the painful traffic jam at the Causeway. It has been so many years yet, the horrible traffic remains the same. This is also the reason why I would prefer to fly to KL instead of driving into Malaysia, just so I can escape the traffic at the Causeway and even the one at Tuas.
I take comfort in the fact that we have wonderful company in the van while being stuck in traffic so it was not that painful haha.
First stop at Angsana Johor Bahru Mall for lunch!
The food was good and cheap, this is the place to visit if you are looking for delicious cheap local snacks. Our check in time was at 3pm so we had plenty of time to shop before checking into our hotel.
Next stop, Muaz. Muaz is where we can get scarves, dresses, outfits for men and women at a wholesale price. The last time I was here, I bought 10 tudung for myself and 2 dresses so I was pretty worried I would be possessed to buy more this time. Muaz is located at No 23., Jalan Padi Emas 1/1, Bandar Baru Uda, 81200 Johor Bahru.
My two nieces still call my husband the ‘mysterious guy’ till now. They were pretty disappointed that I only revealed my husband’s face during the wedding LOL.
On the way to Muaz, I saw Siti Nurhaliza’s boutique and honestly I had no idea that she had an outlet here in Johor. We decided to stop by for a while. Creacion & Simplysiti By Siti Nurhaliza is located at 6, Jln Padi Emas 1/2, Kampung Skudai Kanan, 81200 Johor Bahru.
It was nice and all but there were not as many outfits as I thought there would be. In the end, my mum bought a lipstick from it.
We went to KSL hotel to check in but it was so crowded and what made it worse was that the staff said they did not receive my bookings. Now, can you imagine how I felt when they blatantly tell me that when I have 20 people waiting to check into their non-existent rooms?
I was pretty upset because we were here in October and they did not even need a booking number from us and we were able to check in smoothly. I guess I should have taken down all the booking numbers. After much tracking, we only managed to located 3 rooms that I booked early.
Tip: If you are booking a room from KSL hotel (Johore), please bring along the confirmation booking number.
After like 3 hours of standing by the counter, they finally figured out that the bookings were in the system but under my middle name. Weird right, I know. I even gave them my visa number to help them track but they were unable to do so. I really wonder what kind of system they were using. I was pretty pissed and tired and could not wait to check into the rooms and rest for a while. I had to ensure everyone was also in the right room lol.
After resting for a while, we decided to only head out after maghrib prayers for dinner. Our first stop together as 2 separate vans, Kilang Bateri.
Kilang Bateri is known for its vintage exterior and hipster cafes. The place was once an old battery factory which has now been converted into a container-style shopping district. We walked and window shopped for a while before dinner.
There were so many choices of food that we were spoilt for choice. In the end I decided to try this kacang pool out. My auntie said it tasted horrible (because she ordered the same thing) but it was ok to me. Perhaps I was too hungry to notice haha.
Happy faces of the Idris Family during dinner time.
This one who cannot stop talking to my husband. They are still pretty new with him but I am amazed by the non stop talking lol. #budakkecohHumairah
Kilang Bateri is located at No 83, Jalan Tampoi, 81200 Johor Bahru, Johor Darul Ta’zim. Opens from 12 pm to 2 am daily.
We decided to call it a night so we headed back to our hotel to rest. KSL hotel is just next to the shopping mall so some of them decided to check out affordable massages. I wanted one badly too but was turned away. Oh well, next time!
Ended the night with this one since we could not go for a massage.
Looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow!
