Mothers’ Day Weekend

It seems that everyone was out celebrating Mothers’ Day weekend but we had plan to only do that on Sunday. Typically, my family don’t celebrate Mothers’ Day. So our family tradition is, we eat out together on weekends. If we deserve a break from work on weekends, our mums too, deserve a break from cooking and cleaning on weekends. Our meal together does not have to be luxurious (we save that for birthdays) but more importantly, we dined together. Due to our conflicting working hours, we rarely get to do that on weekdays.

Meeting le fiance first, and being lazy I only wanted to go somewhere nearby. Work has been exhausting and I feel like I have run out of all batteries to socialise on weekends. Le fiance has always been so understanding and he usually come all the way to the east to meet me. Thank you dear.

Actually we wanted to go eat army stew at a nearby restaurant but I was worried we might not be able to finish it so we went to Royz Et Vous instead. This is our second time here.

The restaurant was sweet to give a stalk of rose to every lady in the restaurant. They gave it to all the ladies, regardless on whether they are mothers or not. I thought this was so thoughtful.

We were just minding our own business when familiar faces walked into the restaurant. It was hard for me to miss because I was seated facing the entrance door. Guess who? It was Kak Maya and family!!

Look at how tall and handsome Hidhir is! I have always referred to him as the ‘handsome boy’ when he was in P4 and he was always so shy about it lol. Of course Kak Maya I sorely missed!!! The school is quieter and slightly less cheerful without her around! I also miss her calling me ‘adik! adik!’ all the time, lol!. I am the eldest in almost everything ok so it is rare to have people call me ‘adik’. I like it.

I think she did not age at all! She still looked the same. What was even more surprising was that Kak Maya’s husband and le fiance were neighbours from young. What a small world right?

Since I am pretty sure they will be invited by le fiance’s side, make sure you also come to mine first! Lol. Kak Maya’s infectious laughter, I cannot help but giggle along with her. I truly miss our impromptu makan outing after work especially during stressful times! It was also heartwarming to see her so excited about the wedding. I will not elaborate, but Kak May did try to matchmake me a few times but none of it pull through. Hahaha.

As mentioned earlier, we did not have any special plans for the Mothers’ Day weekend. Since Mum has been craving for Arnold’s since forever, we decided to have our lunch there.

I am obsess with eating chicken ok. Just give me chicken anytime to make me happy whenever I am upset. I am pretty easy to please lol.

We stopped by the durian stall on the way home because Mum’s craving again. We decided to splurge a little and bought the mao shan wang type and it was sooooooooooooooooo heavenly. Oh my, I think I can’t eat any other types of durian now.

Pure goodness cries…..

That was how simple and enriching our weekend was, good food and good company.

Special thank you to le fiance for this unexpected gift for my mum. She does not really have a sweet tooth so it was Dad and me who finished it all haha. Nevertheless, I think she is touched by the kind gesture.

Can’t really see the flowers clearly in this picture but these were specially selected by me. I did not know what else to give, wish we had brought her out for a decent meal. I blame le fiance for this. 😛

I hope you spend a wonderful Mother’s Day too. I am not trying to be superficial by celebrating it only once a year. I think Mother’s Day should be celebrated every day, if not at least every weekend.

Our parents have spent their entire lives bringing us up and supporting us, this small gesture is nothing compared to their sacrifices. May our parents continue to be blessed with good health and may their sacrifices in this life, elevate them to the highest of Jannah inshaAllah.

O Lord, forgive me, my parents and Muslims in the Hereafter. O Lord, show mercy on them as they have nourished me when I was young.
