Road Tripping Around New Zealand Chapter 17: Hello Te Anau!

5 December 2015

The drive from Queenstown to Te Anau took about 2.5 hours. We chose to stay in Te Anau because our main agenda was to explore Mildford Sound and Te Anau was the most convenient location stay in.

We stayed at Lakeview Kiwi Holiday Park Motel. I clearly remembered that our motel will be facing the Te Anau lake so I was pretty excited about that. We were greeted warmly by the people behind the front desk. After our unpleasant experience with our hostel in Queenstown, we did not want to take any risk. We requested for a family room (which obviously will cost a bit more) and were relieved when they have an empty room. So yay!

Front view of our room.

We were facing the lake so yay!! It was also convenient to park our car right in front of our room.

I loved the room the moment we stepped in because look at the big space! There were 1 queen bed and 3 single bed, kitchen, dining area and most importantly, our own bathroom.

We took some time to rest and decided to check out the little town for food. It was 4 pm but most of the shops were starting to close. We had to quickly find a suitable restaurant before all the restaurants close.

I am very happy to see rice.

After our late lunch, we walked around the town a little. Another way to get around this little town is through cycling.

Checking out the lake. The weather and this view, it was perfect for a picnic.

We came across this little pier which made the entire place even more picturesque.

Taking turns to take photos with all sorts of poses lol.

Te Anau, I love you already. We are only due to spent 2 nights here. Wish we could stay longer.

The bright and beautiful sky at 7.30 pm. It only starts to get dark at about 8.30 pm. Looking forward to explore the famous Mildford Sound tomorrow!
