Road Tripping Around New Zealand Chapter 15: Chasing birds in Glenorchy
4 December 2015
While Effa was busy doing all the crazy stunts like sky diving and bungee jumping, we three decided to explore the city a bit. We were walking around Queenstown for a while feeding birds and ducks which seemed to be our favourite must-do activity. It was such a lovely place to to take a stroll.
We went to buy bread because the birds were hungry and I feel bad for not feeding them.
There is just something therapeutic about feeding the birds. Look how the birds gathered near me. Perhaps it is something we do not really get to do back home in Singapore.
The bestie also joined the bird feeding band wagon …. yay.
We decided to go a little further to explore. I had no idea where we were going but Corrine was driving confidently so I decided to be surprised. Lol.
Just 45 minutes from Queenstown, Glenorchy is nestled on the northern shores of Lake Wakatipu. The weather changed drastically while we were in the car. It looked like it was going to rain but we did not really want to turn back so we continued driving out.
We are here! I love this quiet gem and could not wait to get out and explore! However I was not in the right attire and was freezing cold. But the weather was not going to stop me from enjoying this experience!
Look! The birds are waiting for me.
As I was walking towards the birds, these beautiful clusters of bushes in the lakes caught my attention. Look how nicely they are lined.
It was slightly drizzling, thus the mountains looked misty. It kinda reminded me about the wanaka tree, who defied the usual customary growing by the lake.
I had a whole loaf of bread with me but I wanted to play first.
Look how the birds are all eating patiently while I took this photo.
Time to throw the bread into the air. I was suddenly popular among the birds. Lol.
If Bon was here she would scold us for being too close to the birds!
Simply being at his quiet place and enjoying the view of the scenic mountains and lakes makes me feel at peace. Look at the creation of God, it will never ever be comparable to any man made items regardless of how much technology has evolved.
Corrine was busy picking up rocks by the side too. As usual I am the papparazi who captures photos of my cuzzie. She was not aware of course. Look at the beautiful blooming flowers!
Suddenly I wished I was living in this house. Sop peaceful and so calming to the mind and soul.
The road from Queenstown to Glenorchy was said to be one of the most scenic roads in New Zealand. We wanted to explore more but it started to rain. That is also the thing about New Zealand, everywhere is photogenic. You can simply stop your car and take photos. Everywhere you turn, you will see the true beauty of nature.
Therefore the best way to explore New Zealand is by car! I am so glad I made this decision to go on this road trip! The entire experience is even more amazing than I ever imagined.
Halfway through out trip and still feeling so amazed by everything we see.
