You are on your own
People aren’t always going to be there for you, that is why you learn to handle things on your own.
Perhaps my ears are natural detectors for bullshit, don’t even attempt to comfort me with sugar coated words. Funny when people tell you that they will be there for you when things go wrong but when tragedy strikes and your heart shatters, their presence is nowhere to be found.
Actually I don’t need anything. A simple hug, a pat on the back or a light squeeze of my hand, while you nod your head to me, an indication that you understand what I am going through, is enough. A smile or a few words of encouragement will go a long way.
I have always known I am on my own. I solve my own problems, I figure my way out of distress and I overcome all challenges — the battles are mine. I get that.
Stand tall, stand proud and stand beautiful (like the lonely tree above).. I can do this and this too, shall pass.
