Chapter 7: Of new sights and fond memories
18 June 2014
Its our last day in Bangkok today! Honestly, I thought that the stay in Bangkok was too short, both the bestie and me did not know that there were so many things, places and food to explore here. One thing is for sure, we will definitely be back! We are only a 2-hour plane ride away! Lol.
Lovely cheesecake with pudding from 4 Seasons Hotel. Bon bought it for us to eat together but we were rushing for time so she left this in our fridge for us to eat this for breakfast.
This dessert cake is called ‘Romance’ and it was so yummy that we were eating it bit by bit. This Bon really knows where to get the best desserts. Lol.
Thanks to her too, our hotel was conveniently located near the shopping area and the BTS. We were also a stop away from Siam station, where Siam Paragon was with all the yummylicious food places.
For some reason, we were up early and we wanted to go have breakfast but unfortunately the stores and mall will only open at 10 am. We still left the hotel early so that we can walk around and explore!
Last few hours in Bangkok and we wanted to make full use of it!
We wanted to walk around but most shops and even the mall itself was closed so we ended up sitting in McDonalds which was the only place opened. Lol.
Here again for breakfast! I think I fell in love with this place!
First customers of the day! #kiasu
Upon learning that the owner and founder of After You cafe was only a few years older than us, I could not help but felt envious. So successful at such a young age! What an inspiration! Apart from the addictive desserts, she has also successfully set up and series of merchandise for her brand and it is actually sold in all the outlets.
So lovely!
My morning coffee is too pretty, I just wanted to devour it slowly.
I decided to order the Ferero Rocher toast since it was a ‘must try’ and we did not mention that we wanted baby size so they gave us the big size!
Frankly, regardless of the size, I can finish it all which is a dangerous thing. I have been brought up to waste food so I usually finish all the food on my plate.
Fortunately, the bestie’s order was small.
Siam Paragon was huge and we wanted to do some last minute shopping. I wished we had more time!
We were only in H&M and Kinokuniya but of course we did not leave the store empty handed. While waiting for your friends to shop, take a selfie! I took more than 10 selfies while the bestie took so long to get shirts for her brothers and dad. I shall only upload one for your sanity.
Since we were still full from the big breakfast we had, we decided to skip lunch and eat something light instead. This restaurant ‘Coffee Beans by Dao’ was also recommended by Bon but we simply did not have time to stop by here. We had an hour so we decided to give it a try.
The place was crowded, probably because it was also lunch time. Check out the pretty book menu.
The photos of the cakes in the menu were calling out to me. There were so many choices of cakes!!
In the end we settled on ordering the coffee meringue cake. I first fell in love with this when Bon uploaded its picture on her instagram.
It was one of the best cake I have ever tasted.
However I did not share the tom yum soup because I was too full! I think the bestie is having separation anxiety issues with the local tom yum soup.
Mini sandwiches with clams and cheese. This was yummy even though I am no fan of clams.
So many cakes!!! And they all looked so good!
Perhaps its a good thing we were full and we only had an hour to spare before rushing back to check out of the hotel. I am pretty sure we would be eating non stop if we had more time.
Thank you to Bon for bringing us around and recommending all the food places!
I still don’t understand how anyone can stay slim here when all the food are so yummy and cheap. Haha. I would love to come back soon and explore more food places! This place was not just food heaven, it was dessert heaven for sweet treats addicts like us.
Since we had some free time, we ended up shopping again. Haiz, we are beyond help. Haha. I saw this book “Project Happiness” from the book store and I just had to get it! #hopeless #nerd
I was fortunate to get the window seat again!
After 2 hours, we finally arrived at Changi and guess who greeted us?

Actually I missed her so much because the last time I saw her was when she picked us up from the airport back from Umrah. That was in March! Here is the bestie with this noisy girl.
Look at her animated face. Lol.
So blessed to have her and my parents picked me up from the airport. I had a really heavy luggage and an additional bag full of snacks and food from Bangkok. Hahaha.
7 days seemed to past too fast and the best thing is, we are already counting down to our next holiday. 😀
