Chapter 5: Out of control shopping in BKK
16 June 2014
Today is dedicated to shopping! Yes! This is our first time in Bangkok and a lot of our friends, who have been here multiple times have mentioned about how cheap everything was here and that they go crazy whenever they shop here.
Prior to this visit, we were advised to change our venue for holiday because apparently there were a lot of political chaos in Bkk and that its not safe to come there.
Well, where are the demonstrations and the protests?
We loved the toast last night so much that we decided to go back to After You cafe for breakfast. Are we crazy? #yes
Since we were so early, the place was empty!
Breakfast should be like this everyday.
All the toasts looked so good! I wish we can try them all! #greedy. I decided we should try the chocolate and banana toast since I have always loved the combination of these two.
The girls shared the hazelnut pancake that looked equally yummy too. I just took a small bite since I cannot take hazelnut.
The presentation of each item on the menu is so pretty, it automatically gives you the appetite to eat even though you are not hungry. This is mint coffee and it was one of the bets coffee I have ever tasted.
So after breakfast we stepped into the famous ‘Platinum’ and that was when we realised why everyone kept coming here to shop. They have everything a girl needs. Clothes, bags, accessories and all selling at wholesale price!
Damage done. We had to go back to the hotel to put down all the bags. I think I need to convert more dollars to baht.
After a short rest, we were out again and this time we took the BTS to Siam station. The BTS was really similar to our mrt.
Siam was only a stop away so I guess we saved a lot of time.
Japanese food for lunch!
We love Japanese food! Look at the bestie’s bento set!
After lunch, we hopped to the movies. We have been wanting to watch ‘Maleficent’ but we simply had no time. So here we are!
The movie was so awesome! We loved it! I really love how its not the traditional good versus evil story, because nothing in life is as clear as black and white.
After the movie, Bon suggested we checked out the supermarket. We seemed to enjoy going to the supermarket in foreign countries so………
Out of control shopping! Seaweeds, snacks and lots of goodies! Ahh…we are crazy aunties in the supermarket. Lol.
Finally, time for dessert! This place is called ‘Let them eat cake’. What a cute name for a cafe!
The place is so pretty and dainty.
Our first dessert looked too pretty to eat. We wanted to order some of the desserts we spotted earlier but it ran out. I guess this is quite a popular place for locals.
Macarons!!
Apparently, one day shopping in Platinum was not sufficient so we are going back tomorrow. We headed back early to rest and Bon was also working the next day we did not want to stay out too late.
Meanwhile, I still find Kyu’s face on masita seaweed amusing.
I think we bought too much for our own good. Lol.
