Leaving footprints in Korea Day 3 @ Nami Island
16 December 2012
We were scheduled to go to Nami Island today but we after checking with the tourist information the night before, we found out that we had to book our bus tickets in advance, which we have not done so. Therefore, we were up early to check out the bus and hoping that they have 2 empty seats for us.
Walking through the streets looking for breakfast. It was really cold at -2 degrees.
Each time we take a photo in the open, I have to remove my gloves so that I can press the camera button properly. In that few minutes, my fingers often froze. Lol.
We got the bus / ferry tickets to Nami Island! Yay!
Finally arrived and waited for our ferry. The place was covered in snow and it was such a pretty sight.
Can you see the beautiful view behind us? I was excited to travel across the waters.
Our ferry is here!
Could not stand outside for long during the ferry ride because I could not stand the cold. Haha. Therefore, I only have this one photo 😛
We are here in Nami Island and the temperature is -4 degrees!
Frozen lake. Too beautiful. Pardon me while I take moment to admire this beautiful view.
The bestie standing on the bridge across the frozen lake.
This was truly my first time experiencing winter and I did not know that snow can be so beautiful.
Train tracks in snow! I had to pose like this.
Found and old hut to seek shelter from!
Some heat please!!
The famous ‘first kiss’ scene….with no one to kiss 😛
The road ahead! Pretty but slippery to walk on, I almost fell down a couple of times.
As we walked on further and further, we realised that there were lesser and lesser people around. We were not sure if its because they could not be bothered to walk on, or whether it would be too crazy to walk on in this freezing temperature.
However the beautiful view seemed to be endless and we were curious to see how beautiful the view would be at the other side of the island.
We were not disappointed.
Frozen pond.
When we arrived here, we could see the half frozen lake. It was too spectacular. We had to pause for a while to take photos and admire the magical view.
As we continue to walk and try not to fall, my expectations of my photos:
Me looking good. Haha.
However, the reality is ……………
But sometimes we are fortunate to have people help us take photo together.
If there is no one around, we took the photo ourselves, like this!
Even the bare trees looked so gorgeous with the mountain and lake in the background.
Towards the end of the island and the view gets more spectacular!
The lake looks like its mirroring the mountain. We were too awed by the beauty that was right in front of our eyes.
My favourite photo of the day with the bestie in it!
We took some time to enjoy the view, I somehow forgot how cold it was when I tried to capture as many photos as possible.
All the walking was worth it!
Self taken and with 10 crazy shots as well. YES in this cold. People thought we were crazy. Lol.
We were too in love with the view that we wanted to capture as any photos as possible with both of us inside so we had to be creative!
I was also trying to mentally capture the image into my mind. I have never seen anything so beautiful.
Time to walk back. Trying to get some good luck from this ‘heart’ monument. Lame I know.
The beautiful scenes of Nami Island with the bestie. Yay.
Because posing with only a smile is too mainstream.
We were hungry from all the walk so it was time to look for food. Passed by the frozen pond again and still thought that it beautiful.
We decided to hunt for food before we get any hungrier. Look at my pale face from the cold haha.
We were ecstatic to see this halal sign!!
Kimchi rice and kimchi pancake was quite delicious for the 2 hungry people.
They even had a musollah upstairs! Happy!
If you are looking for a musollah in Nami Island, you can stop by here!
Outside the musollah was a mini art gallery and I was extremely interested to see the beautiful paintings / drawings of expressions on stones!
We had some time left so we decided to continue exploring the place. We have finally arrived at the famous ‘Winter Sonata’ area.
The statue, frankly, I have not seen the show so I really am clueless. Being clueless did not stop me from doing this! Haha!
Found some duck friends! Come to Mommy! Quack quack!
Sooo cute…I wish I can carry them but the bestie did not want me to get to close to the ducks!
It must be the cold. We were hungry again. Hot pancakes and long queue. Hmm, must be really good!
So bestie queued up while I continued to play with the ducks.
Continue with walk and taking photos!
Giant butterfly. The thing about Nami Island is that there were too many beautiful and interesting monuments to check out. If you are planning to come here, please set aside an entire day like we did.
Time to head on to the ferry. This place was too mesmerizing, I definitely want to come back here for honeymoon. Hahaha.
The snow seems to be melting because of the sun but the view was still as gorgeous.
We spotted my other friends. Cats! Meow! For some reason they were not friendly at all, they must only understand korean language.
We decided to eat some snacks with this view while waiting for our bus. Such a calming and therapeutic sight. I could stay here all day.
It was already evening by the time we got back to mainland. Bestie and her friend met us somewhere near our guest house and we made our way to this cafe called ‘Mouse Rabbit.’
Ended our day with dessert and drinks.
Loved the day and even though my feet was aching, I really thought that all the walk was worth it to see the magnificent creations of the Almighty.
Alhamdulilah. Can’t wait for day 4.
