Chapter 5: Of speed boats and friendly fishes
16 December 2011
The view from our balcony at dawn. Maria was better today so we were set to go to Hong Islands today!! The weather was rainy and we were hoping for clear skies!
It was drizzling when we went out for breakfast at our favourite pau stall.
It was still drizzling a bit when we arrived at Ao Nang Beach. However, we were still able to go ahead with the island visit. Going on in a smaller speedboat. There were only 8 people including us. My only fear is that I will be more seasick in a smaller boat!
This time we brought bread to feed the fishes! Its absolutely delightful to see them all rushing to the bread we throw in the water!
They were getting ready for snorkelling! Water was extremely choppy and after the previous day’s event, I decided to skip this one since I do not want to drown.
I was sitting in front of the speed boat and it was so fun!! No seasick at all!!
1st island stopover!
It was not crowded at all, so we could dance and other crazy things on the beach!
There were fishes near the beach so that meant that, I could still do snorkelling!!!!! To be among the fishes was so magical!!
There were really not many people on this beach. It felt like we had the beach and island to ourselves.
2nd island! We were scheduled to have lunch here.
There are cats and fishes on this island. I can actually stay here and survive.
We cannot wait to go into the waters to snorkel again!! Yay, I was ecstatic! I was feeling deprived from not being able to snorkel in the middle of the sea.
Again, trying to look like a mermaid but instead, I look like a stranded whale.
I was actually sad when we had to leave.
Our cheeky guide who was entertaining me…hahaha..
Approaching the beautiful mangrove. Sitting in front of the boat was so exciting.
Next island stopover was where we could do the kayaking. Partnered with Raimi and was extremely nervous once we were out into the ocean. I guess we must have kayak for a few minutes before I decided to turn back. Raimi and Maria went off to kayak some more while Fifi and me rested.
Took some time to just sit on the beach and lie down. I actually fell asleep on the beach.
But we saw that there were many fishes near the beach!!
So we jumped in!!
The 2 of them are finally back from kayaking!
While we were playing with the fishes, a small, young boy suddenly came and talk to Fifi!! He was talking excitedly to her and the only problem is, we all could not understand him!! Apparently he is Russian and it was just so adorable of him to just started talking to Fidah! She is like a people magnet!
He was so cute and he willingly agreed to pose for photos with us!
I really had a blast here. I love how it was so peaceful and calm because there were not many people. The clear waters and fishes was great!
As Fifi and me laid down on the beach to relax, we spotted a thai couple who went kayaking and picked up every single trash that they see floating in the sea. I think it was out of their own accord.
Wow, so impressive to see their own people keeping the beach and sea clean.
Last pic before leaving the island. I love this island.
And off we went in the speedboat…
We were all wet and cold and none of us brought towels again!! Haha..it was just so nice to sit in a smaller speedboat and simply enjoy the scenery back. We spotted eagle on the way back and I saw flying fishes! The sight was simply amazing!
When we reached back at Ao Nang beach, it was raining. We were really lucky it was not raining on the islands, if not, we would not able to fully enjoy our island hopping.
We went back, changed and went out for dinner at another street stall. I am still amazed at how clean the street stalls were.
Familiar dinner.
Fried prawns bought by Raimi was so hot and yummy!!
It was the last night to have cheap ice cream from Swensens!
Ice cream made us happy and high!!
It was our last night here so we went to do last minute shopping before heading back to pack. Leaving in the morning.
I had such a wonderful day! No seasick at all, I get to snorkel and swim with the fishes too! Yay!! Love this trip!!
