Chapter 11: Hello Paris!
21 December 2013
I am depressed by the fact that we are leaving beautiful Switzerland. The views and the experience here have been extremely un-describable. Even though Paris has been on my bucket list of places to go since forever, I really do not think any other place in the world will be as beautiful as Switzerland.
You may prove me wrong.
Early morning train and we were there at the train station early.
I am happy to see food early in the morning! Breakfast on a tray! I like!
The train rides that has become a norm in this trip, is always something to look forward to. We actually enjoy the train rides because we get to see the different places, some residential and some simply consist of untouched designs of nature.
Finally here in Paris! We had to catch a cab to get to the hotel and were somehow stuck in traffic. Its a city after all.
Exploring the city of Paris.
It was pretty crowded and everyone seemed to be fashionably dressed. Before this trip, my sis in law mentioned that in Paris, people were often spotted wearing dark coloured clothing such as black, brown and grey. Since my jacket was pink, I did slightly panic as I did not want to stand out from the crowd.
The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. It stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle at the western end of the Champs-Élysées.
Its like in the middle of nowhere. Lol.
My three travel mates walking towards light. Lol. We were actually searching for a suitable place to have lunch.
Spot the Eiffel Tower!
I was too hungry to take more photos. We bought banana chocolate crepe to ease our hunger as we continue exploring the city. I think I looked pretty tired from the train ride and from being hungry. Haha.
The Eiffel Tower was huge so it looks near but trust me, the walk was not short at all, even though the Eiffel Tower was clearly visible to our eyes.
I am finally here!!
It was really crowded and there were so many people from all over the world who were just like us. They were taking photos of everything everywhere.
And so my obsession with trees continues…
The trees around Eiffel Tower looks like they have been abruptly cut.
River Seine! There are more than 37 bridges on River Seine but we only crossed one.
It was such a beautiful place to walk and the four of us were walking with such huge gaps from each other, an indication that we are totally absorbed by the charms of the river.
I would have done more crazy types of shots but I think I was really tired and my feet was aching badly from the walk. Woes of someone with flat feet.
I mean, I was wearing my in-soles but it still ached badly. I think I am just not meant to walk for long periods of time. Boo. I am created full of shortcomings, but nevertheless, I am constantly trying to find a balance.
Thank you to the bestie for being patient. But still, I don’t think people who have no flat feet issues will ever fully understand the pain that comes with each step when it starts to ache badly. If you do not have flat feet like me, you really need to be thankful.
If you look closely, the bridge is full of designs. I wished I knew what each design meant.
As we continue walking and the sun starts to set, I cannot help but notice how blue the sky was.
The sun is setting behind Eiffel Tower.
Totally captivated by how the trees mourn the temporary departure of the sun.
The Place de la Concorde is one of the major public squares in Paris. Decorated with statues and fountains, the area was named Place Louis XV to honor the king at that time.
We went back to the hotel for a short rest before going out again to search for food. The bestie was suggesting this halal restaurant nearby and I was more than happy because I like meat.
I was too happy to see rice!! And hot food! Yay!!!
Roaming the streets of Paris at night.
Ok, we did not exactly roamed around, its just that there were a lot of interesting buildings from the restaurant to the hotel. Haha. For instance, we stood to watch this building ‘change colours’.
Ok, I do not really know why we were excited about that. Lol.
